OSAGE, IOWA — Maurine M. Jackson, 90, of Osage died Monday (July 7, 2003) at the Stacyville Community Nursing Home in Stacyville, Mitchell county, Iowa.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 18, at the United Church of Christ in Osage with the Rev. Karen Nichols Dungan officiating. Interment will be in the Osage Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 17, at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage.

OSAGE, IOWA — Maurine M. Jackson, 90, of Osage died Monday (July 7, 2003) at the Stacyville Community Nursing Home in Stacyville.
Maurine was born July 4, 1913, in Union Township, near Stacyville, the daughter of Edward and Edna (Woolworth) Gerbig.
She spent her youth and attended elementary school in the Union Township area and was a graduate of Osage High School. Maurine attended the Cosmopolitan School of Beauty in Des Moines, where she completed her Beautician’s Certificate.
Upon returning to Osage, she owned and operated Maurine’s Beauty Salon in Osage for over 40 years.
Maurine was a long-time member of the United Church of Christ in Osage. She served as a Sunday school teacher for over 20 years and was an active member of the Mayflower Circle.
Maurine was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and held many offices, including Worthy Matron.
She and her husband, Clayton, enjoyed membership and riding activities with the Cedar Valley Saddle Club in Osage.
Maurine became involved with the maintenance and preservation of the Union Presbyterian Church near Stacyville, where she attended in her youth.
Through her efforts in research and application procedures, the Union Presbyterian Church was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in May of 1977. For many years, Maurine enjoyed preparing for and opening this historic site to visitors during Memorial Day week.

She is survived by one daughter, Maradee Fox and husband, Larry, of Osage; one sister, Irene Schaeffer of Eagle Grove; seven grandchildren, Cheryl (Jackson) Brandau of Osage, Ed Jackson of Kihei, Hawaii, Wanda (Jackson) Dahle, of Lake Mills, David Jackson of Newport, Minn., Mike Fox of Dallas, Texas, Jim Fox of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Corey Lynn (Fox) Harper of Aiken, S.C.; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Edna Gerbig; her husband, Clayton Jackson; a son, Dennis Jackson; a great-grandson, Cole Fox; and a brother-in-law, Verne Schaeffer.
