Almo Milfred Jahr Funeral April 5, 2002
Funeral services for Almo Milfred Jahr, 73, of Toeterville, who died Sunday, March 31, 2002 at his winter home in Mesa, Arizona, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, April 5 at Faith Lutheran Church in London, Minnesota, with Rev. Reuben Unseth officiating.
Almo was born March 17, 1929 to Adolph and Marian (Nelson) Jahr in Otranto Township, Mitchell County, Iowa. He was baptized on June 2, 1929 and confirmed on May 16, 1943 at Mona Lutheran Church.
Almo graduated from St. Ansgar High School in 1947 where he was recognized by the FFA as a "Star Farmer."
On August 22, 1953, he was united in marriage to Lillian Ardine Johnson at Mona Lutheran Church. Seven children were born to this union. Almo was a livestock and grain farmer north of St. Ansgar, retiring from farming in 1992. He also operated the Bolan Store in Bolan, Iowa for the past 25 years. Almo and Lillian had enjoyed spending the last 15 years wintering in Mesa, Arizona. They moved to Toeterville in the fall of 2001.
Almo was a past president of the Otranto Farm Bureau, served on Mitchell County FmHA board, Toeterville Elevator board, former member of Otranto School board, served on many boards and committees as a member of the Mona Lutheran Church and Faith Lutheran Church. Almo enjoyed singing, hunting, fishing, playing cards, traveling, vacationing and camping with his family and friends.
Almo is survived by his wife, Lillian of Toeterville; five daughters, Liana (Dean) Church of Osage; Marilyn (Keith) Pitzen of Stacyville; Nancy (Dallas) Huddleson and Julie (Elton) Butler, both of St. Ansgar; Paula (Dana) Milbrandt of Osage; two sons, John (Diane) Jahr, and Peter (Beth) Jahr, both of St. Ansgar; 20 grand-children: Alicia and Clara Huddleson; Ashley and Mitchell Butler; Christopher, Nichole and Mikaela Jahr; Victoria, Andrew, Annmari and Rachel Milbrandt; and Brady Jahr; one great granddaughter, Anali Wagner; two sisters, Marlys (Loyal) Moore of Harlan, Iowa; and Eileen (Marly) Kittleson of St. Ansgar; Aunt Helen Nelson of St. Ansgar; many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson Philip Church in 1988, and granddaughter Melissa Jahr in 1992.
Burial was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Mona.

TOETERVILLE, IOWA - Almo Milfred Jahr, 73, of Toeterville, died suddenly Sunday (March 31, 2002) at his winter home in Mesa, Ariz.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Faith Lutheran Church in London, Minn., with the Rev. Reuben Unseth officiating. Interment will be at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Mona.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage, where there will be a prayer service at 7 p.m., and one hour before services at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials.
