Glenn Markham Funeral January 7, 2002

Funeral services for Glenn W. Markham, 84, of Osage, who died Thursday, January 3 at Faith Home in Osage, were held Monday, January 7 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Osage, with the Rev. Philip Recker officiating.

Glenn W. Markham was born March 24, 1917, in Burr Oak Township, Mitchell County, the son of William O. and Adeline (McGrane) Markham. He attended country schools.

He was united in marriage to Shirley Duenow on March 31, 1937. They farmed in Burr Oak Township until 1965 when they moved to Osage. They owned and operated the Plaza Cafe for 17 years until retirement. They have continued to live in Osage. Glenn was a lifetime member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage and a member of the Knights of Columbus, Lions Club and Farm Bureau.

Glenn is survived by his wife, Shirley of Osage; five sons. William and wife Elaine Markham of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Ronald and wife Kristine Markham of Parkers Prairie, Minnesota; Richard and wife Marjorie Markham of Osage; Robert and wife Kate Markham of Lakeside, California; Keith and wife Jessica Markham of Gig Harbor, Washington; four daughters, Janice and husband John Dempsey of Osage; Barbara Markham of Osage; Joan Blake of St. Ansgar; Patricia and husband Roger Karau of Savage, Minnesota; a brother James Markham and wife Ruth of The Rock, Georgia; a sister Katherine and husband Frank Laskos of Oregon, Illinois; 24 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Jean Olson, two sons-in-law, Dean Penney and Tom Blake.

Burial was in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Osage.
