Victor Max Adolf Holm was born October 26, 1918, at Las Vegas, New Mexico, the son of Otto and Ida (Lesche) Holm. He graduated from St. Ansgar High School. On December 7, 1939, he was united in marriage to Lorraine Zimmerman at St. Ansgar. The importance of agriculture and specifically farming was seen in Victor's occupation. He farmed near St. Ansgar and later moved to the Charles City area where he farmed with Julius Huxsol for many years. Victor then worked as a custodian at Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church for six years.
He was a member of Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church, the American Bowling Association, and enjoyed working with the Foster Grandparent Program, and Kid's Castle. Victor's other interests included bowling, playing cards and pool, and watching sports, especially the Vikings. His family was very important to him and the time spent with them was always very special.
Living family members include five sons, Dale (Vickie) Holm of Osage, Allen (Karen) Holm of Swaledale, Richard Holm of Charles City, Robert (Barbara) Holm of Orchard, and Donald (Shirley) Holm of Charles City; four daughters, Gloria Crumpton of Manchester, Judy (Roger) Grimm of Elma, El Louise "Jackie" (Al) Jacobs of Ellendale, Minn., and Dianna (Tim) Francis of Mason City; twenty-three grandchildren; and twenty-three great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Lorraine, on May 23, 1995, a grandson, Brian Crumpton, a great grandson, Alexander Branstad, a son-in-law, Jim Crumpton, three sisters, and two brothers.
The family suggests memorials be directed to the Saint John Christian Preschool or Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church.
