Lydia Johanne Wilhelmine (nee Bergein) Hartwig Dieterichs

Funeral services for Mrs. William Dieterichs, 72, were held on Saturday morning, June 19, 1948, at St. John's Lutheran church. The Rev. I.G. Kitzman officiated. Burial was made in Bird Island, Minnesota, cemetery Saturday afternoon. Mrs. Dieterichs died Wednesday, June 16, 1948 at her home after a lingering illness.

Lydia Johanne Wilhelmine Bergein was born September 30, 1876, to Ferdinand and Emelie Waskow Bergein at Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She moved while small with her family to St. Ansgar, Iowa, where she received her schooling and was confirmed in the Immanuel Lutheran church there.

September 30, 1897, she was married to Fred Hartwig. They spent the first years of their marriage on a farm six miles south of Osage. In September 1903, the family moved to Minnesota, where they lived on a farm near Olivia, Renville county. The couple was blessed with three sons and three daughters, Mr. Hartwig died in February, 1926.

September 28, 1935, she was married to William Dieterichs and they made their home south of Osage until the fall of 1942, when they moved to Osage. Mrs. Dieterichs health began to fail last August and she suffered a cerebral hemorrhage last Sunday from which she never recovered.

She is survived byher husband; three sons: Roy of Osage, Wilmer of Elbow Lake, Minnesota, and Stanley of Bird Island, Minnesota; three daughters, Mrs. Erma Westland and Mrs. Flora Holcomb of Spokane, Washington, and Mrs. Margaret Corum of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; two sisters, Mrs. W.H. Kuehl of Hutchinson and Mrs. Theo. Heil of Gaylord, Minnesota; one brother, Arnold Bergein of Mankato, Minnesota; and seven grandchildren. Also surviving are her stepchildren, Mrs. Verna Tresemer, Arlington; Maylon, Stanley and Paul Dieterichs all of Osage; Theo. Dieterichs of Rudd, Gladys Dieterichs of Ann Arbor, Michigan, Francis Dieterichs of Van Nuys, Calif., and Mrs. Ruth Nelson of Kensett, and 15 step-grandchildren.
