Gordon Skuster, 81, of Charles City, Floyd county, Iowa, died Friday, May 19, 2006, at the Salsblury Baptist Home in Charles City.

Gordon Wilbur Skuster was born January 10, 1925, at Osage, Mitchell county, Iowa, the son of Rasmus and Elizabeth (Warrington) Skuster. He graduated from the Mitchell public school and attended Iowa State University and later transferred to St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn. Gordon returned home and began his farming career.

On August 27, 1950, he was united in marriage to Gloria Ellefson at Osage, Iowa. They lived and farmed north of Osage moving to Charles City in 1967. In addition to farming, Gordon was a successful real estate broker and developer and also built several homes in Charles City. He also developed and owned several farm and retail related businesses.

Gordon was an active member of the Messiah Lutheran Church, served on various church committees and held several church council positions. He enjoyed the outdoors and farming and leaves behind a thriving farming operation. Those who knew Gordon will remember him as a kind and caring person who was always ready to lend a helping hand.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Gloria Skuster of Charles City; five sons and their wives, Eric and Patty Skuster of Waverly, Iowa, David and Janis Skuster of Stewartville, Minnesota, Paul and Ann Skuster of Charles City, Timothy and Denise Skuster of Salt Lake City, Utah, and William and Sally Skuster of Chicago, Illinois; nine grandchildren, Christopher, Kimberly, Kara, Andrew, Cassandra, Nathan, Megan, Garrett and Colton Skuster; two great grandchildren, Mason and Tjaden; his mother-in-law, Orpha Ellefson; a sister-in-law, Shirley Guthart; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two granddaughters, Kelsey and Sarah Skuster; two sisters; and two brothers.
