In Memoriam-McNulty

A deep shadow passed over the David community Sunday afternoon when it became known that Loren B. McNulty, second son of Mr. and Mrs. John McNulty, had passed from this life to the great beyond.

About ten days before he was taken sick with infulenza and from the first his case was serious, developing quickly into pneumonia and congestion of the liver.

Friends and relatives from far and near watched daily and hourly for news of the sick one and many times their hearts were saddened by the word received and the worst was feared. When some little change for the better was apparent, it was welcomed gladly and they hoped and prayed that his life might be spared.

Everthing was done for the sufferer that skilled and loving hands could do but it was of no avail and at 3:00 o'clock Sunday, Februay 15, 1920, his sprirt fled.

Loren was born Dec. 17, 1889 and spent his whole life here among us and we all feel that we have lost one who was near and dear.

He attended the David school and graduated from the McIntire high school in 1908, later attending the Cedar Valley seminary. He was always interested in farming and after finishing his education, became a partner of this father on the home place. On this farm the whole of his short but happy life was spent.

On Dec. 15, 1914, he was united in marriage to Avis Pingry. To them was born one child, Donald Loren, now 2 years of age.

Loren was a member and faithful attendant of the David Baptist church from which he will be greatly missed.

Death is always sad, but when it comes to one in the prime of life; one who has such bright prospects for the future and who only a few days ago was to all appearances in the best of health, it is extremely sad.

To the dear wife, his death is especially hard to bear as she was also sick at the same time and was only able to sit up at the time of her husband's death.

Besides his wife and child, he leaves to mourn his loss, his parents a brother, Mark of Des Moines, and a sister, Marjorie.

The funeral was conducted at the home on Friday by Rev. Thos. McElroy and Rev. Bodenham. Interment was made at Riceville. The large attendance and the profusion of flowers show in what esteem he was held.

The relatives from a distance who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Mark McNulty; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Fesenmeyer and son, Herman, from Des Moines; Mrs. Lillie McDonald and Messrs. Henry and Arthur Blim, from Chicago, and A. J. McNulty, from Marquette, Mich.
