OSAGE MAN DIES AFTER ACCIDENT

OSAGE, IOWA -- Mitchell County's first traffic fatality was recorded Wednesday with the death of Gary Lievrouw, 18, Osage, at the Mitchell Memorial Hospital. He was injured in a one-car accident about 3 a.m. Tuesday, a hald mile north and a half mile east of Little Cedar.

The youth, on a 30-day furlough from the Army, was alone in the car. He later told his mother he had fallen asleep. The car struck an iron bridge on the left side and spun around, but did not jump the bridge. He was found at 6:45 a.m. by an unidentified driver of a milk truck.

Lievrouw suffered a fractured jaw and undetermined internal injuries.

Surviving are his parents, Morris and Georgia Scofield Lievrouw; a brother, Morris Lievrouw Jr., and a sister, Margaret.

He was born near St. Ansgar in June 1938, and attended the Osage schools. Later he entered the service. He was a member of the Sacred Heart** Church at St. Ansgar. Funeral rites are pending at the Champion Funeral Home.

** Note: There is no Sacred Heart Church in St. Ansgar. Gary was probably a member of the church his funeral was held in, which was St. Ansgar Catholic Church in St. Ansgar.
