Dallas Paul Bahr was born in Iowa Falls, Iowa on December 29, 1941, to Alvie and Thelma (Skou) Bahr; and died on December 6, 2004 in McAllen, Texas. A memorial service was held on December 18, 2004 at Worlein Funeral Home in Austin, Minnesota.

Dallas loved cars and racing, He drag raced for years. He was a member of the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) He and his brother Craig built many cars, including a 1957 Chevy Nomad that broke a world's racing record in the American Hot Rod Association (AHRA). When his son Brian was old enough to drive, Brian joined his dad racing most weekends every summer. Dallas displayed the trophies and awards he won racing throught the years in his house and big shop/garage in Austin.

A resident of Adams, Mower county, Minnesota with his family for 13 years, Dallas was a member of the Adams City Council for six of those years. He was employed by Hormel Foods Corp. for 33 years. In 1988, he moved to Austin, Minnesota. After retiring from Hormel in 1998, Dallas did a lot of camping with friends and family in Minnesota during the summer months and enjoyed his retirement home in McAllen, Texas every winter. He and his partner, LaVonne Srock, spent more and more time in Texas each year.

When people think of Dallas, they think of a man who loved to laugh, talk and keep busy. There was always a new project to work on and a new story to tell. He was a wonderful father and grandpa who loved his children and grandchildren and spoke about them with pride and joy.

He is survived by a son, Brian (Deb) Bahr of Rochester, daughter, Erin (Kennan) Kroll of Orono (Hennepin county, Minnesota); three grandchildren: Stephinee Bahr, Noah Bahr, Caleb Bahr; his partner, LaVonne Srock of Austin; sisters Marylyn (Allen) Hofland of St. Ansgar, Iowa; Marlene (Russ) Hulshizer of St. Ansgar; Mary (Russ) Bissen of Stacyville, Iowa; a brother, Craig (Jill Asbury) Bahr of Bettendorf, Iowa.

His was preceded in death by his parents, Alvie Bahr (on April 20, 1983), and Thelma (Skou) Bahr Rathjen, and by a brother, Delmer.

Interment was in St. Peter's Cemetery, Toeterville, Mitchell County, Iowa
