ST. ANSGAR, IOWA - Lucille Duenow, age 82, formerly of St. Ansgar, Mitchell county, Iowa, and the last few years of Rochester, Olmsted county, Minnesota, passed away peacefully Friday, September 26, 2008, at Faith Lutheran Nursing Home in Osage, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m. today, September 28, 2008, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar, with the Rev. Byron Northwick officiating. Burial will be in the St. Ansgar Cemetery.
Lucille was born on September 2, 1922, and grew up in Hampton, Iowa. She studied to be a cosmetologist in Mason City, and owned and operated her own beauty salon for 58 years in St. Ansgar.
She married Merle Duenow of St. Ansgar on February 24, 1943, in St. Louis, Missouri. They were married for 46 years.
Her hobbies included cooking, sewing, numerous clubs and of course her love for playing any card games.
Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Larry (Peggy) Guenther of Port Washington, Wisconsin, Sandra Major of Osage, Mrs. Byron (Jayne) Edge and Mrs. David (Judy) Klompenhower, both of Rochester, Minnesota; one son, retired Maj. Russell Duenow and wife (Afton) of Fredericksburg, Virginia; 13 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; four sisters; a sister-in-law; a brother-in-law and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, by her beloved husband, Merle Duenow; one son, Rickey; one brother, and two sisters.
Arrangements are by Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, St. Ansgar -- 641-713-4920.
