RICEVILLE, IOWA - Janice Rae Martin, age 72, of Riceville passed away Monday, September 22, 2008, at her residence in rural Riceville.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 25, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Riceville. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery (Mitchell county) in Riceville.

Friends may call on from 4 to 8:30 p.m. today, Sept. 24, at Lindstrom Funeral Home in Riceville with a rosary at 4:30 p.m. and a Scripture service at 6:30 p.m.

Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Martin of Riceville; six children, Laurie (Dan) Schwarck of Riceville, Cathy Martin of Shell Rock, Doug (Sue) Martin of Monona, Kellie (Tim) Martin of Bettendorf, Amy (Duane) Walther of Denver and Lisa Smith of Lime Springs; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents.

Janice Rae Martin

Janice Rae Martin age 72, of Riceville passed away at her residence in rural Riceville on Monday, September 22, 2008. Funeral services were held on Thursday, September 25th at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Riceville at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Ray E. Atwood officiating. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery in Riceville.

Janice was born in Paxton, Nebraska on September 5, 1936 to Frank and Hildred (Oberg) Lammers. She attended local schools and graduated from Paxton High School. She then attended Central Business College in Denver, Colorado. Janice was united in marriage to Kenneth Martin on June 2, 1956 in Rochester, Minnesota at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Janice worked in the insurance claims department of Mitchell County Regional Health Care in Osage, Iowa for 36 Years.

After her retirement Janice worked part time for the Iowa Agricultural Statistics of Des Moines Iowa. She also enjoyed working with her daughter Lisa, at the Garden Cards and More in Lime Springs, Iowa.

Janice was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church of Riceville, St. Anne's Rosary Society, North Iowa Quilter's Guild, Riceville Quilters, and Community Craft Club. She enjoyed dancing, quilting, gardening, attending auctions at the Cedar Valley Auction and especially enjoyed Healing Touch.

Survivors include: her husband Kenneth Martin of Riceville, six children: Laurie (Dan) Schwarck of Riceville, Cathy Martin of Shell Rock, Doug (Sue) Martin of Monona, Kellie (Tim) Martin of Bettendorf, Amy (Duane) Walther of Denver and Lisa Smith of Lime Springs, 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
