Clarence Wright was born at the Wright home, northwest of Osage, on June 18, 1896, and died at the home of his aunt, Mrs. Annie Bentley, in Osage, June 24, 1922, at the age of 26 years and 4 days. He worked on his father's and his uncle's farms north of Osage during boyhood and youth and a few years ago he took up the trade of barber and later office work in Minneapolis and Chicago.

He entered the service of the United States in the World war at Minneapolis June 24, 1918, and served as private in headquarters Co. 7th Inf.

He saw active service in France in the defensive sectors and later was stationed in Germany with United States troops and was honorably discharged Aug. 28, 1919, at Camp Dodge, Iowa.

His service in the war was that of a real soldier as shown by his discharge. He was a quiet, retiring disposition, and well liked by everyone who knew him.

His father, William P. Wright, Jr., died suddenly at his home near Osage in May 1920, and his mother, Mrs. Lena Wright, died at Osage in February 1920. There were nine brothers, sons of Mr. and Mrs. Wright, at the funeral of their mother held in the Lutheran church in February 1920. They were away at the time of their father's burial.

Clarence was in the U.S. hospital for some time taking treatmens for tuberculosis, but did not improve and came to Osage in May of this year and stayed with his Aunt until his death.
His brother, Albert, also a World war veteran, is now at Knoxville, Iowa. He leaves besides friends and other relatives to mourn his loss eight brothers, Albert, at Knoxville, Iowa, and Elmer, George, Raymond, Alphonse, Walter and Rudolph, all of Osage and vicinity.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist church Tuesday afternoon at 2:30, in charge of the Legion post, the sermon being given by Rev. Smith. Burial was in Osage cemetery.
