Lloyd F. Indra, age 92, died Tuesday, June 17, 2008, at the Faith Home in Osage, Mitchell county, Iowa. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Friday, June 20, 2008, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage with Rev. John Moser officiating. Burial was at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Osage with military honors at the grave by Osage V.F.W. Post 7920.

Lloyd was born October 26, 1915, to Joseph and Amelia (Hovel) Indra, on a farm west of Osage. He helped on the family farm until 1943, when he entered the U.S. Army in Camp Fannin, Texas. There, he specialized in telephone communications. He was sent overseas in 1944 to New Guinea, in the South Pacific. After that island was liberated, Lloyd was sent to Luzon in the Philippines in the initial invasion of Manila. There, he received the bronze star for repairing telephone lines under enemy fire. He was a member of the Headquarters Battery of the 51st Field Artillery Unit of the (Red Star) Sixth Division.

When Japan surrendered, Lloyd was sent to South Korea for occupation duty, before coming home in 1946. He then farmed and worked as an electrician for Arnie Bartsch and Bill Nack. In 1955, he became self-employed as an electrician. Lloyd was a life member of Osage V.F.W. Post 7920.

Lloyd is survived by his brother, John Indra of Osage; and numerous cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Leona Indra.

Arrangements were made by Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home, Osage (641)732-3706.
