Patricia Lynn Owen, age 63, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2007. Luminous and joyful in life, she leaves behind her loving sons Ryan and Darryl; mother Norma [nee Alison]; brothers, Bill and Dick; sister-in-law Cindy and nieces Ann, Susan, Sara and Amy. She will be hugely missed by the Donovans: Michael, Raymond, Margo, Kathy, Kevin, Ann, Stacy, Tom, David and Margaret.

She had a far-ranging circle of friends who will also miss the spirit and energy she brought to their lives. Patti will be remembered for her considerable writing abilities, having crafted more than eight novels, published articles in several magazines, and delivered her incredible stream of consciousness emails detailing her cozy cottage home and secret garden on the lake.

She will be terribly missed for her quirky and endless wit, her imaginative gourmet cooking abilities, and her devotion to her cats.

Patti was born to Norma [nee Alison] and Bill [Dr. William E.] Owen in San Diego, California, on March 12, 1944 while her father was serving in the Navy in World War II. She was raised in St. Ansgar, Iowa, where she was the prettiest girl in the school, even being featured in the local newspaper photo feature, in a languishing pose by the family's backyard pond.

After graduating from Lindenwood College in St. Charles, Missouri with a B.A. in English, she married Michael, and had a son, Ryan.

She taught English and Creative Writing in her early years, and spent more than 30 years in nursing in Minneapolis, Delano and at St. Mary's in Rochester, Minnesota.

She was endlessly kind and spiritual and had just completed three years of sobriety, for which she was deservedly proud. The universe is decidedly dimmer with the loss of such a bright, kind, intelligent, funny and compassionate woman.

In lieu of flowers, please adopt a cat or provide a donation in Patti's name to the Greater West Metro Humane Society, located at 4375 State Highway 55 SE, Buffalo, MN, 763-682-7061.

Serving the family was the Peterson Chapel of Buffalo.
