Obituary-Colbertson

Bertha Colbertson was born June 11, 1856, to the parents Ole and Merta Colbertson. Her mother's maiden name was Bentrud and she was a sister of Mrs. Peter Golberg.

Bertha was born near St. Ansgar, Iowa, on the Nils Lorenzen place and will be laid to rest within a few rods of her birthplace. She was baptized and confirmed by Rev. C.L. Clausen, the first pastor of the first Lutheran church of St. Ansgar.

After the death of her parents, she made her home for about ten years with Mr. and Mrs. G.J. Colbertson, whose home became a second parental home to her. After this Bertha Colbertson kept house for her brother, Colbert, for about thirty years.

For the past ten years she has not been of as robust health as before. About a year ago she began failing more rapidly and finally succumbed to heart disease and other ailments on Saturday, April 18th.

Funeral services were conducted from the first Lutheran church at St. Ansgar on Thursday, May 22, Rev. Waldeland officiating.

Those who attended the funeral from away were Mrs. Otto Wenstrom, of St. James, Minn.; Mrs John L. Beck, also of St. James, Minn., Mrs. Mark Kreuger of Lansing, Minn., Mrs. Laura Williams of Blooming Prairie Minn.
