Funeral services for Edna Susan Duenow, 96, of St. Ansgar, were held Wednesday, August 21 at Immanuel Lutheran Church here with the Rev. Norman Betke officiating.
Edna Susan Duenow was born February 25, 1895 at Hawarden, Iowa, Sioux County. She was the daughter of Herman and Jennie (Storie) Koster.
When she was a young girl the family moved to Riceville. She attended Howard County School and the Riceville Public School. After the family moved to Mitchell County she attended school here in this county.
On November 30, 1915 she was united in marriage to Carl A. Duenow at the home of her parents. They farmed in the vicinity of St. Ansgar and Mitchell for 36 years until they moved to St. Ansgar in the fall of 1951.
She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where she was active in Ladies Aid and was a member of Esther Circle.
She is survived by three daughters: Mrs. Glenn (Shirley) Markham, Osage; Mrs. James (Eleanor) Tracy, St. Ansgar; and Mrs. Lawrence (Margaret) Runtsch, of Austin, Minnesota; five sons: Wayne of Brownsdale, Texas; Kenneth of St. Ansgar; Carl of Clear Lake; Merlyn of Montgomery, Minnesota; and John of Cheney, Washington.
Other survivors include 40 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband [in 1969], six grandchildren, one great-grandchild, her parents and two brothers.
Burial was in the St. Ansgar Cemetery.
