ST. ANSGAR, IOWA - Albin Martin Perau, 71, of St. Ansgar, died Tuesday, November 27, 1990, at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Mason City.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, St. Ansgar, with the Rev. Norman E. Betke officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery, Toeterville, where there will be military honors conducted by the Walter. T. Enneberg Post and American Legion.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 pm today at Schroeder and Sites Funeral Home, St. Ansgar.

He was born June 30, 1919, in Elgin, North Dakota, to George and Elise (Baldner) Perau. He married Elizabeth Jean Fossey on Nov. 30, 1940.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth, St. Ansgar; one daughter, Mrs. Jim (Pamela) Sampson, Lyle, Minn.; two sons, Ronald Perau, New Castle, Colo., and Bradley Perau, Lincoln, Neb.; and three sisters, Mrs. Orlo (Della) Jensen, St. Ansgar; Elda Drunasky, Phoenix, Ariz.; and Rosella Houg, El Cajon, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two
brothers.

Albin Perau Funeral Services Held November 30 At Immanuel Lutheran Church

Funeral services for Albin Perau, 71, of St. Ansgar, who died November 27 (1990) at Mercy Hospital, Mason City, were held Friday, November 30 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, St. Ansgar, with the Reverend Norman E. Betke officiating.

Albin Martin William Perau was born June 30, 1919 at Elgin, North Dakota, the son of George Perau and Elsie Baldner Perau, was baptized August 3, 1919 at Elgin by the Reverend Landgrebe. His sponsors were Martin Landgrebe and William Perau.

The family lived there until his father’s death three years later. The family moved to the St. Ansgar area. He was confirmed March 25, 1934 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, St. Ansgar, having been instructed by the Reverend Paul Brammer and he remained a lifetime member.

He attended the St. Ansgar Schools, was active in sports in high school, and graduated in 1939.

Mr. Perau was united in marriage November 30, 1940 to Elizabeth Fossey at Osage by the Reverend Solem. This union was bless with three children, Ronald, Bradley and Pamela.

In 1944 Mr. Perau entered the U.S. Navy and served for two and one half years in Idaho and Washington. Upon his return from the service they made their home in St. Ansgar where he was a painting contractor for over 35 years.

He was an active and faithful member of his church, held various offices and sang in choir since his confirmation. He was a member of the Forte-Milers Barbershop Chorus for over 30 years, a member of the Walter T. Enneberg American Legion Post 358 for 43 years, and a member of the St. Ansgar Chamber of Commerce. He served as a volunteer of the St. Ansgar Fire Department for 27 years.

His hobbies in addition to singing, were gardening, woodworking, caring for his lawn and fishing. He enjoyed his family and grandchildren most of all.

Survivors include his wefe, Elizabeth; two sons, Rondal and wife, Lisabeth of New Castle, Colorado; and Bradley and wife, Rose of Lincoln, Nebraska; a daughter, Pamela Sampson and husband Jim of Lyle, Minnesota; 10 grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Orlo (Delia) Jensen of St. Ansgar, Elda Drunasky of Phoenix, Arizona, and Rosella Houg of El Cajon, California.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Orlan and Rueben, and one grandchild, Angelique.

Burial was in St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery, Toeterville.
