Gloria D. Rice, age 81, of Osage, Mitchell County, Iowa, died on Friday, January 25, 2008, at the Mitchell County Health Center Emergency Room in Osage. Funeral services were held on Monday, January 28, 2008, at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage with Rev. Steven M. Kellet and Rev. Monte Follis officiating. Burial was in the Osage Cemetery.

Gloria was born June 17, 1926, at Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of David and Ada (Griffin) Parr. She graduated from McIntire High School in 1943. After her graduation, she moved to California to be with her parents. Following the end of the war, she returned to Osage. Gloria was employed at Parr's Wallpaper and Paint Store in Osage.

She married Dr. C.D. Rice on February 18, 1951, at the Baptist Church in McIntire. Gloria was a member of the First Baptist Church, and for many years attended the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, both in Osage.

She was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband, Dr. C.D. Rice in 2001; and by two brothers, Charles Parr and Douglas Parr.

Gloria is survived by a daughter, Debbie Farkas of Osage and her children, Rachel (Adam) Garms of Iowa City, and Amy Farkas of Denver, Colorado; by a son, David (Linda) Rice of Osage and their children, Katie Rice of Osage, and Jason Rice of Plymouth; and by two nephews, Gene and Stu Parr.
