Mr. Samuel Jones

Born January 3, 1831
Died March 24, 1911

Mr. Samuel Jones was born in Demlyshire, North Wales on January 3, 1831, and passed away at his home in Orchard, Iowa, on March 24, 1911.

Mr. Jones was married to Jane Jones on October 19, 1853, and in 1864,with their two children emigrated to America. For two years they made their home in New York state. They then moved to Wisconsin and remained there until 1869, when they came to Mitchell county and settled on a farm near Orchard, which was their home for twenty-five years. Of late years their home has been in Orchard.

Mr. Jones is survived by his widow and seven children, two of his children having preceded him to the other land. Those surviving are Mrs. W.P. Upham of Charles City, John R. Jones of Orchard, Humphry W. Jones and Mrs. J.W. Manigle of Wilbeaux, Montana, Mrs. F. Y. Varnum and Edward E. Jones of Hancock, Minn., and Mrs. H. M. Clark of Tuxford, Canada.

For several years Mr. Jones has been a sufferer, from rheumatism and for the past two years has been failing gradually. All that loving hands and good care could do has been done for him but death came as a final relief for his sufferings.

The funeral was held at the home on Sunday conducted by Rev. Foreman of the Baptist church of Osage.

Interment at the Stillwater Cemetery.
