Thursday, February 13, 1908Isaac Cole was born in Bamburg England, August 11, 1836, and died at his home in Osage, Iowa,
January 27, 1908.When eight years of age his parents came to America and settled in Dane county, Wisconsin.
In 1865, he came to Iowa, settling at Rudd, Floyd county, where he continued to reside until 1900, when he came to Osage. Here he has made his home until death summoned him.
On December 10, 1873, at her home in Columbus, Wisconsin, he was united in marriage to Miss Sylvia Styles. Two sons were born into their home. Julian E. of Munich, N.D., and Herbert L. of Mason City, Iowa. Two sisters, Mrs. J. C. Otto, and Mrs. A. M. Fuller, and one brother, C. M. Cole, all of Osage, remain, also two little grand chldren.
About eighteen years ago Mr. Cole united with the Baptist church and had his membership at Rudd.
On coming to Osage, he united with the church here where he retained his membership until his death. He was a faithful devoted member, loyal to God's house in spite of feeble health and impaired hearing. He had experienced something of the comforts of the Gospel, the helpfulness of prayer. He loved music, especially the beautiful old hymns. During the last of his illness for the most part he was unconcious, but not long before his going his devoted wife who was permitted to care for him through all his long illness, was singing one of those old songs they loved to sing together so well in former years, he joined in singing. There's rest for the Weary, that rest for which his spirit so longed, the rest remaining unto the people of God.
The funeral services were held at his late home by his friend and former pastor, Rev. D. I. Coon, of Waverly and the body was laid to rest in the Osage cemetery.
