Florentina Mary Eisterhold, 89, of Rt. #1, Austin, died Monday morning, Dec. 1, 1997, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester.

She was born April 1, 1908, in Meyer, Iowa, daughter of John and Sarah Steiger Thome.

She married Herman Joseph Eisterhold Oct. 12, 1931 in Meyer and was a homemaker. She was an avid gardener and baker, being known for her strawberry jam and peanut butter cookies. She was a Sacred Heart Hospice volunteer, a member of the St. Augustine Rosary Society, past CCW rural life chairperson, a 4-H leader and a Red Cross volunteer. She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Marion and B.T. (Rocky) Elton, Bloomington, Minn., Elizabeth Compardo, Davie, Fla., Dorothy and John Dempsey, Citrus Heights, Calif., Susan and Elwood Witter, Rochester, Linda Lou Eisterhold, St. Paul; son and daughter-in-law, John A. and Linda K. Eisterhold, Albert Lea; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and brother and sister-in-law, Roman and Wava Thome, Osage, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by husband, Herman, May 29, 1976. Pallbearers will be Jeff Eisterhold, Doug Eisterhold, Greg Eisterhold, John Elton, Mike Dempsey and Jeff Schwert. Pianist will be Jan Muzik; the soloist, Erin Schumacher. Service: 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 4, at St. Augustine Catholic Church, with Fr. Paul Nelson officiating. Visitation: 4:30-8:30 p.m. tonight (Wednesday) at Mayer Funeral Home with a 4:30 p.m. CCW rosary and an 8 p.m. wake service and from 9-10:30 a.m. Thursday also at the funeral home. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery.
