Funeral Services Held Monday for Ray Thome, Accident Victim. Funeral services were conducted Monday morning at the Immaculate Conception Church in Charles City for Ray Thome, who was killed in a car accident near Mason City, Thursday, Dec. 24. His wife, a son and a daughter, who were with him were injured and were taken to a Mason City hospital. A complete obituary will appear in the next issue.

The Rt. Rev. Msgr. John J. Smith was celebrant at the requiem funeral mass of Raymond H. Thome at the Immaculate Conception church in Charles City December 28. Mr. Thome, 40, died Dec. 24 of injuries received in a two car accident that day near Mason City.
Raymond Henry Thome was born Feb. 7, 1924 in Stacyville, the son of Frank and Anna Thome. He attended school here and worked on his father’s farm until he began work at the Geo. A. Hormel plant in Austin.
On April 29, 1944, he was married to Alta Mae Kramer at the St. Augustine Catholic church in Austin. In 1945 the couple moved to Charles City where he began work at the Oliver Corporation. Following that, he worked for four years at the Goodyear Service store and for the past 12 years had served as construction foreman for Hickman Reynolds of Charles City.
Survivors are his widow, a son, Le Roy, 18, a freshman at Mason City Junior College and a daughter, Raelyn, 12. Also surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Thome, a brother, Gregor, and a sister, Mrs. Ervin Gerk (Eleanor) all of Stacyville; a brother, Clarence, of Charles City, and another brother, Norbert , of Mason City.
The Grossman Hage Funeral home of Charles City was in charge of burial. Interment was at Calvary Cemetery.
Mrs. Raymond Thome remains hospitalized at St. Joseph’s Mercy hospital in Mason City with a serious hip fracture, possibly requiring surgery. The injuries were sustained in the car accident Dec. 24 in which her husband died soon after being taken to the Mason City hospital.
The daughter, Raelyn, also remains hospitalized there with a broken arm and ribs and is expected to be released soon. The son, Le Roy, was released from the hospital last Wednesday after being treated for head cuts. He was able to resume classes Monday.(Stacyville Monitor, Jan. 7, 1965)
