THOME, Rosina (nee Faas) 1898-1974

Rosina Faas Thome was born May 8, 1898 at Stacyville, Iowa, the daughter of George and Susanna Adams Faas. She spent her lifetime in the Stacyville area.

On September 1, 1920, she was married to Joseph P. Thome at Visitation Church, Stacyville. They farmed until retiring to Stacyville.

Mrs. Thome died April 4, 1978, at Mitchell Co. Memorial Hospital in Osage, Iowa, at the age of 79. Funeral services were held April 6, 1978, at Visitation Catholic Church, Stacyville, with pastor, Rev. Robert J. Reiss, offering Mass and officiating at burial rites in the church cemetery. Concelebrating with Fr. Reiss were Rev. Thomas Carpender of Meyer and Rev. Joseph Griffin of Waterloo. Pallbearers were grandson, Tim Thome, Denny Thome, Michael Thome, Mike Young, Wayne Mayer and Douglas Mayer.

She is survived by three sons, Ralph of Osage, Iowa, Ben, Adams, Mn., and Joe, Waterloo, Iowa; five daughters, Mrs. Anthony (Mary) Young, Garner, Iowa, Mrs. Eugene (Marjorie) Mayer, rural Meyer, Iowa, Mrs. Vernon (Imelda) Mayer, Stacyville, Mrs. Ray (Lorena) Panhoff, Ventura, Iowa, and Mrs. Larry (Emilie) Hayungs, Cartersville, Ill; two brothers, Mike Faas, Prairie du Chien, Wisc., and Ben Faas, Stacyville; a sister, Mrs. Hans (Anna) Neilsen, Garner, Iowa; 45 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents, and her husband on February 27, 1977. (Stacyville Monitor, Thurs. Apr. 20, 1978)
