Funeral services were held Friday, September 7, 1979 at the Visitation Catholic Church in Stacyville, Ia., for Albert Thome, 80, who died September 5, 1979 at the Stacyville Community Nursing Home. He had made his home there since July 2, 1978.

Visitation pastor Rev. Robert J. Reiss celebrated the funeral Mass and conducted graveside services in the Visitation cemetery. Pallbearers were his sons and daughters. Acolytes were Mark, Chris and Peter Thome, grandsons. Hatten Funeral Home was in charge of interment.

Albert Thome was born in Stacyville Township August 17, 1899, the son of John and Sarah (Steiger) Thome.

He was united in marriage to Rose Hoerter at Stacyville on April 17, 1927. They spent most of their married life farming in the McIntire, Little Cedar and Meyer-Stacyville area. They retired to a new home in Stacyville in 1967. He was a member of Visitation Parish and the St. Joseph’s Society.

Surviving are his wife, Rose; four sons, Arthur and Daniel of Stacyville, Leon of Osage, Ia. and Dale of Waterloo, Ia.; two daughters, Mrs. Leo (Mary Jane) Foxen, New Haven, Ia. and Mrs. Jerome (Arlene) Grell, Fountain, Mn.; four brothers, Frank of Stacyville, John of Adams, Mn., Arnold, St. Peter, Mn., and Roman, Osage, Ia.; also two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Mueller, Stacyville, and Mrs. Florentina Eisterhold, Austin, Mn.; twenty-four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. A son, Eugene, died in the service of the U.S. Navy in 1952.
