Beryl Irene (Smalley) Mielke, 95, of Austin, Minnesota, passed away on August 10, 2007, at Our House Assisted Living in Austin.

Beryl was born on June 13, 1912, in Osage, Iowa, to Harrison and Nellie (Kirgus) Smalley. She attended normal school in Osage, Iowa. She worked at Geo. A. Hormel and Company for several years.

On Dec. 15, 1934, she was married to Louis William Mielke in Austin. They made their home in Austin for over 60 years, spending their summers at a cabin near Backus, Minnesota, and winters in Florida for over 20 years.

Louis died on February 3, 2001. Beryl was a member of the First United Methodist Church and Women's Circle as well as the local PTA. On June 1, 2006, Beryl moved to St. Mark's Lutheran Home and to Our House Assisted Living on June 1, 2007.

Survivors include two daughters, Carol (William) Sheely of Austin, Nancy (Thornton) Pratt of Brodhead, Wisconsin; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters: Bessie Miller of Austin, June Eskew of California, and Ruby Davis of California.

She was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband, Louis William Mielke; by one brother, Harvey; by five sisters: Bernice, Blanche, Dorothy, Bertha and Beulah.

Funeral services were held on Monday, August 13, 2007, at the Worlein Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Dennis Tamke officiating. Interment was in Grandview Cemetery south of Austin.
