Rev. Robert R. Barrick, age 82, of Osage, Iowa, died Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2007, at Faith Lutheran Home in Osage. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 17, 2007, at the First United Methodist Church in Osage, with Rev. Dr. J. Samuel Subramanian officiating. Burial will be in the Osage Cemetery with a flag presentation by Osage American Legion Post 278.

Bob was born April 21, 1924, in Waynoka, Oklahoma, the son of Ernest T. and Maude H. (Elliott) Barrick. He grew up on a farm near Enid, Oklahoma, graduating in 1942 from Enid High School. He graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1947, with a B.S. in Agronomy. Bob served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1946.

On December 27, 1944, he married Margaret Mobley at the Methodist Church in Jones, Oklahoma. They lived in Oklahoma and Texas until moving to Osage in 1953. Bob ran a hatchery business until 1970, had his own insulation business, was a livestock feed salesman, and worked at Winnebago Industries. Robert was ordained as a minister in the United Methodist Church on June 8, 1986. During the time he attended ministerial school, he was a part-time minister at the Elma and Alta Vista United Methodist Churches. He participated in Walk to Emmaus.

He moved to Ladora, Iowa, in 1982, and preached in churches at Ladora, Koszta, and Ohio, Iowa. In 1993, he returned to Osage to semi-retire and became a visitation minister for 11 years. Bob was active in Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts for 30 years, receiving the District Award of Merit, the Silver Beaver Award (the highest volunteer award), and the Wood Badge Training Award. In 1977, he was an Assistant Scout Master at the National Jamboree. While living in Ladora, Bob started a Boy Scout Troop and a Cub Scout Pack. Bob's three sons are Eagle Scouts, and his two daughters achieved the Curved Bar in Girl Scouts. Bob loved horses, dogs, hiking, and gardening.

Rev. Barrick is survived by his wife, Margaret Barrick of Osage; five children, Robert Barrick, Jr. of Kalona, Janet (Michael) Lockie of Austin, MN, Neil (Laurie) Barrick of Johnston, Marilyn Boyd and friend Roger DeGolier of Leland,

Reese (Michelle) Barrick, of Price, UT; four sisters, Margaret Leonard of Osage, Cathryn Stubbe of Phoenix, AZ, Charlotte (Doyle) Parrack of Perkins, OK, Dorothy (Ted) Dodds of Tempe, AZ; one brother, William (Jean) Barrick of Abilene, TX; eight grandchildren, Katie Lockie, Jeremiah (Megan) Lockie, Daniel Lockie, Micah Lockie, Courtney (John) Quinn, Andrew Barrick, Kezia Boyd, Mahalia Barrick; two great-grandchildren, Aliyah Lockie, and Alexis Forsberg; numerous nieces and nephews; and dog, Dusty.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Elliott; three sisters, Esther Thompson, Helen Williams, and Mary Gilbert.
