Ernest B. Knapp, 84
Resident of Little Cedar
Area Died.

Funeral services for Ernest B. Knapp, 84, well known Little Cedar resident and native of Mitchell county, were held Saturday at Little Cedar. Mr. Knapp was confined to Mitchell County Memorial hospital five days prior to his death there last Wednesday. His health had failed during the last year.

The Rev. Lloyd Brockmeyer, pastor, was in charge of the services at Little Cedar Methodist church.
Burial was in Liberty cemetery.

Ernest Bland Knapp was born at Little Cedar Feb. 3, 1880, the son of Edward Augustus and Emma Worseldine Knapp. His education was received in the Little Cedar schools.

His marriage to Bertha Mills took place June 29, 1904, in Osage, and on that date this year the couple celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.

Mr. and Mrs. Knapp retired to their home in Little Cedar in March, 1947, after he had lived 67 years on the family farm two miles south of Little Cedar. He was a member of Little Cedar Methodist church, had served as president of Farm Bureau and Little Cedar Conservation club, and was a member of Odd Fellows. He was a member of the school board for many years, and served as assessor of Liberty township for 30 years.

Mr. Knapp was known locally as a poet, creating work for his own pleasure and to entertain at local programs.

He is survived by his wife, Bertha, who served as a Press News correspondent for 58 years; three sons, DeVere of McIntire; and twins, Kenneth of Little Cedar, and Carroll of Eden, Idaho; one brother, Earl Knapp of Atlanta, Ill.; one sister, Mrs. Stella Henderson of Northwood;
eight grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.

Preceeding him in death were his parents, two sisters, Mrs. Robert Cooper and Mrs. Lloyd Tibbets, and one brother, Fred Knapp.
