John Henry Miller, 53, of Osage, Iowa, died Saturday (Oct. 21, 2006) at Hospice of North Iowa in Mason City, Iowa.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Oct. 24, at Mayer Funeral Home, 600 Second St. N.W., Austin, Minnesota, with Father Joe Fogal officiating. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery with military rites by American Legion Post No. 91 and VFW Post No. 1216.

John was born on Jan. 29, 1953, in Austin, Minn., to John Jesse and Ann (Staresnic) Miller.

He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War in 1st/7 Infantry, 1st Cavalry Division. John served in the Army branch of the military from 1971 through 1975. He was awarded the Air Medal on June 28, 1972, and the Combat Infantry Badge.

In April of 1995, he was engaged to Brenda Kloberdanz and on Oct. 17, 2006, the two of them married in Rochester, Minn.

John enjoyed telling tales with his many friends, traveling, and sharing his experiences from his service in Vietnam.

He had a soft spot in his heart and enjoyed his visits from his granddaughters, Kinsey and Kylee. He also had a very special relationship with his three nephews, Jesse, Joey, and Travis, whom he felt like a father to.

John will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and by his wife, Brenda. His humor and great spirit will be cherished always.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda Miller, Osage, daughter, Shelby (Adam) Kline, Mason City; sons, David Kloberdanz and Nicholas Kloberdanz, both of Cedar Falls; granddaughters, Kinsey and Kylee Kline; mother and her special friend, Ann Miller, and Rocky Rasmussen, Austin, Minn.; brothers, Tim (Pat) Miller, and Jim (Linda) Miller, all of Austin, Minn.; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Marloe and Alice Ellingson, Osage; brother-in-law, Marloe Jr. (Donna) Ellingson, Joice; sister-in-law, Deb (Dan) Swann, Osage; nephews, Travis Miller, Calif., Jesse Miller, Lorton, Va., Joey Miller, Austin, Minn.

Mayer Funeral Home, (507) 433-1817, was in charge of arrangements.
