Funeral services for Etta M. Christensen, 72, of St. Ansgar, Iowa, who died at the Mitchell County Memorial Hospital in Osage, iowa, on May 25, 1983, were held May 28 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar, with the Rev. Norman E. Betke officiating.

Etta May Christensen was born in St. Ansgar on August 24, 1910, the daughter of Martin A. and Grace (Ringhand) Christensen. She was baptized at Carpenter by the Rev. Landdeck on May 19, 1912. She was confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran church in St. Ansgar by the Rev. Paul Brammer on February 19, 1939.

Etta Christensen was a lifelong resident of St. Ansgar where she attended the public school. She played piano for the silent movies at the St. Ansgar Opera House. She taught Sunday school, was organist, and a member of the Young Ladies Society at Immanuel Lutheran church. She provided loving care for her parents until their deaths. For several years she was a local reporter fore the St. Ansgar Enterprise. Since September of 1965 she faithfully provided the Cedar Valley Electric Cooperative with a telephone answering service.

On March 20, 2983 she was taken to Mitchell County Memorial hospital for treatment for emphysema and bronchitis. Several weeks later she was transferred to Methodist Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota. Following treatment there, she returned to the hospital in Osage.

She is survived by her son, David; his wife, Connie; two grandchildren, Jeff and Amanda of Warrensville, Illinois; a brother, Gordon and two nephews, Gordon Jr. and Richard of Janesville, Wisconsin; also by many other relatives and friends.

Etta Christensen was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Jeanette Madaris.

Burial was in the St. Ansgar Cemetery with Rev. Betke in Charge of the committal service.
