FUNERAL RITES HELD FOR MRS. MARY REIERSON
Funeral services were held today for Mrs. Mary Reierson, age 79, at the First Lutheran church, St. Ansgar, Iowa. with Rev. Olaf Langehough in charge. Death came Tuesday evening December 22, 1937.
Mary Larson, daughter of Jacob and Johanna Larson, was born in Wisconsin July 28, 1858. She was baptized in infancy and confirmed by Rev. M. Waldeland, Sr., in Clayton county, Iowa where she spent the early years of her life. She was married March 9, 1885 to Oscar O. Reierson.
Mr & Mrs Reierson came to Mitchell county and located on their farm 3 miles west of St. Ansgar. Here Mrs. Reierson continued to live with her youngest daughter, 4 years after the untimely death of her husband on October 1, 1892. She then came to St. Ansgar which has been her home since.
Throughout her life, Mrs. Reierson was a member of the First Lutheran church, participating in Ladies Aid and Cemetery society, affording her the opportunity for many a kindly service to others. She was a lover of children and was ever active in some interest on their behalf, and so kept young at heart herself despite her nearly four score years of age.
Of an active, cheerful disposition, Mrs. Reierson enjoyed good health until April 30, 1936, when she suffered a partial stroke of paralysis. Since that time, her daughter, forsaking her own active interests, has been her constant and devoted attendant and has done all that love and sympathy and genuine understanding could do to lighten the burdens of her mother's declining days. The end came peacefully Tuesday evening, December 22nd. One brother, 4 sisters and her many friends learned of her death with deep regret for she was highly esteemed by all who knew her.
