Funeral Held At
Immanuel Lutheran

Funeral services for Lawrence J. Hollatz, 66, of St. Ansgar, who died July 26 at St. Mary's hospital, Rochester, Minn., were held July 28 at Immanuel Lutheran church here with the Rev. Norman E. Betke officiating.

Lawrence Julius Hollatz was born June 2, 1917 in Newburg Township, the son of Albert and Helene (Erdmann) Hollatz. He was baptized June 19, 1917 at St. John's Lutheran church, Rock township, by the Rev. Reinecke, and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran church, St. Ansgar, March 20, 1932 by the Rev. P. Brammer. He attended elementary and high school at Carpenter.

As a young man he worked on the family farm. He married Ruth Albrecht October 30, 1943 with the Rev. Brammer officiating. Three daughters were born to them. They made their home on the family farm until 1946 when they moved to a farm near Otranto. In 1963 they moved to their home in St. Ansgar.

Mr. Hollatz worked for the Soil Conservation Service for a number of years, and also as a drainage consultant with CanTex Industries. He was a member of Maple Manor Board and also served on the North Iowa Regional Housing Authority. He was also a member of the St. Ansgar Lions Club.

As a faithful member of Immanuel Lutheran church he served in various offices and on committees of the congregation over the years as a Member of the Voter's Assembly.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth; three daughters, Mrs. Gerald (Beverly) Beaver of St. Ansgar; Mrs. James (Barbara) Medlin of Mason City; Mrs. Steve (Jane) Dalluge of Grafton; six grandchildren; four sisters, Esther Haupt of Poynette, Wis.; Elsie Dieterich of Osage; Edna Muller of Ft. Morgan, Colo.; Laura Muller of St. Ansgar; three brothers, Oscar Hollatz of Byron, Minn.; Ortwin Hollatz of Osage; and Art Hollatz of St. Ansgar; also a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Earl and one sister, Leona.

Burial was in the Immanuel Lutheran cemetery with Rev. Betke in charge of the committal services.
