(Read at the funeral)

Dear Friends,

We are assembled in hallowed memory of Adolph C. Lund, who passed on into Life Thursday, Sept. 7, 1911, aged 34 years 2 months and 12 days.

Adolph's home going once more makes true the poet's thought:

"There is no flock, however watched and tended.
But one dead lamb is there;

There is no fireside howso'er defended
But has one vacant chair."

In his father's family the circle was unbroken till yesternight when Adolph was called to exchange worlds-and now

"His lifeless body is at rest
He is gone-who was its guest.

Married March 24, 1902, to Miss Nettie McHenry, with her to mourn his early loss are left, Iola, a little daughter of six, and Andrew Charles, an infant son of six months.

Death is always death. It is not easy at any time, to any circle, nor at any age. Somehow, just now, it seems hardest and saddest when a young man dies. Despite his frequent failing health, Adolph was ever in love with life. To his bereaved ones, it seemed he was but getting ready to live. Though his life-star sank back, back into the horizon before its rising was complete, seeing his peacful passing we can but believe with Tennyson that man is supported here by the hope that "life sall live forevermore:

That life's withheld completions, ideals and aspirations unfulfilled here, will be vouchsafed to him more abundantly hereafter.

"There is no death: The Stars go down
To rise again upon some fairer shore;
And bright in Heaven's jeweled crown
They shine forever more.

There is no death: An angel form
Walks o'er the earth with silent tread,
He bears our best beloved things away
And then WE call them "dead".

Though passed beyound our tear dimmed sight
"Tis but a larger life to gain:
We feel their presence oft' the same.
Except in sin and pain.

And ever near us, though unseen,
The dear immortal Spirits tread;
For all the boundless universe
In life-there is no dead."
