Allie L. Hylden
Born October 6, 1887
Died September 6, 1911Allie L. Hylden, the youngest child of Mr. and Mrs. D. O. Hylden, was born October 6, 1887, in Seward, Nobles Co., Minnesota. In the latter part of the year 1888, he was baptized by Rev. Muller Eggen of Lyle, Minnesota.
At the age of three, he with his parents removed to St. Ansgar, Iowa, where he grew up to young manhood. His father and three sisters preceded him to the Better Land. For a long time, his health has been failing him, but through it all, he was ever cheerful and bore his sufferings with great fortitude. September 6, 1911 at the ae of 23 years and eleven months he passed quietly into Eternal Rest.
He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church and of the order of the Knights of Pythias. He was an ideal friend, frank, faithful, generous and true. He was a beloved son and brother. "I cannot say, and I will not say, That he is dead-He is just away!"
With a cherry smile and a wave of the hand
He has wandered into unknown land,
And left us dreaming how very fair
It needs must be, since he lingersthere.
And you-oh! you who the wildestyearn
For the old time step and the gladreturn-
Think of him faring on, as dear
In the love of There as the love ofHere;
Mild and gentle as he was brave,
When the sweetest love of his live hegave
To simple things; where the violetsgrew
Pure as the eyes they were likenedto
The touches of his hands havestrayed
As reverently as his lips have prayed
When the little brown thursh thatharshly chirped
Was dear to him as the mockingbird;
And he pitied as much as man inpain
A writhing honey-bee, wet with rain.
Think of him still as the same I say;
He's not dead; he is just away!
