Funeral services were held for an Osage woman, Mrs. Ellen Halvorson, 85, who died August 25, at Faith Lutheran Home. Mrs. Halvorson had been ill since May and was confined first at Mitchell County Memorial Hospital, then she became a resident of Faith Home.
The Rev. Richard Thompson, associate pastor, was in charge of the rites at Our Savior's Lutheran church. Arrangements were by C.R. Champion and Sons and burial was in the Riverview cemetery south of St. Ansgar.
Ellen Christianson was born August 10, 1887 in Osage the daughter of Anton and Olia Lee Christianson. She grew to womanhood in Osage and received her education in the local schools. She worked in a Waterloo office and for Doctors Louis and Sam Savre as a young woman.
Ellen Christianson and Ingwald Halvorson were united in marriage June 6, 1920 at Our Savior's Lutheran church. To this union were born two sons, Louis of Osage and Calvin who died in infancy. Her husband died on April 1, 1964. She was a lifelong member of Our Savior's Lutheran.
Her health began to fail in May of this year and she was a patient at Mitchell County Memorial hospital and later became a resident at Faith Lutheran Home where she died peacefully August 25. Her 85th birthday had been observed there on the 10th of this month.
Survivors include her son, Louis; two grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Alfred (Elsie) Havig of Osage; a brother, Ralph of St. Petersburg, Fla; and nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her husband, one son, her parents, four brothers and one sister.
