Thena Knudtson Stiley was born in Vaug, in Valders, Norway, February 2, 1828. She came to America in 1850 and settled at Staughton, Wisconsin. She was married to Evan Knudtson in 1851. In the same year they moved to Decorah, Iowa where they lived till 1908. when they moved to Carpenter. They were blessed with ten children, 4 of whom survive her. Martha Ottis, Gilbert Knudtson, Sevena Ellingson and Ove Knudtson. She was laid to her final resting place in the Norwegian Lutheran Cemetery in St. Ansgar on January 30, 1911. She died on the 26th of January, 1911.

Gilbert Knudtson of Gas Cayne, North Dakota, is here on the sad errand of attending his mother's funeral. Others here in attendance were her grandson Ed Knudtson, of Silver Leaf. N.D. Her nephew Andrew Vald of Maynard, Mn. and her son Ove, from Clinton, Montana.

Mr. Ed Knudtson, of Ellendale N.D. is visiting friends and relatives in this vicinity. He came to attend the funeral of his grandmother, Mrs.Evan Knudtson.
