July 11, 1950 - August 26, 2018

Roger Clemence Meyerhofer, 68, of Owatonna, Minnesota, died Sunday, August 26, 2018 at his home.

He was born July 11, 1950, in Osage, Iowa, the son of Clem and Rose (Schmidt) Meyerhofer. He grew up in Iowa and graduated from St. Ansgar High School, Class of 1968. Following his schooling, he served in the United States Navy from 1968 to 1972 in the Pacific and Vietnam.

After his military service, he lived for a short time in California. He eventually made his way to Minnesota and took a job at OTC where he worked for 39 years. He met and fell in love with Wanda and they were married on February 19, 1988, in Owatonna.

Roger was a quiet, gentle, spirited person. He enjoyed cooking, gardening, playing cards (and maybe cheating a bit), playing golf and pickle ball, checking in on his family and friends and especially enjoyed his grandchildren. They loved the flat bacon (Spam) he cooked for them and the Twizzlers that were always available. He had an infectious sense of humor that was enjoyed by his family and friends.

Roger was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Owatonna and the Pickle Ball Association where he served as president until a few days ago.

He is survived by his wife, Wanda Meyerhofer of Owatonna; children: Tammy (and Abe) Fitch, Wade Wilker and Weston Wilker all of Owatonna; grandchildren, Ethan and Gavin Fitch and Elise Wilker; siblings, sister Nancy Meyerhofer of Honduras, Central America, Nickolas (Cheri) Meyerhofer of Newberg, OR, Arlene Erickson of Cottage Grove, Bea Young of Rochester, Ben Meyerhofer of Wesley, IA, Andy (Liz) Meyerhofer of Osage, IA and Peggy Meyerhofer of Apple Valley; brother-in-law, Walter (LeAnn) Masche of Owatonna; and by a sister-in-law, Doreen (Steve) Monson of Owatonna.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clem and Rose; brothers-in-law, James Young and Lowell Erickson; and parents-in-law, Walter and Doris Masche.

Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home in Owatonna on Saturday from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, September 1, 2018 at 12:00 PM at Michaelson Funeral Home in Owatonna with Father James Starasinich officiating. Private interment will be at a later date in St. John Cemetery in Owatonna.
