Donna Jean (Bublitz) Marreel, age 61, of Osage, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 11, 2018 surrounded by family and friends at Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 15, 2018, at Visitation Catholic Church in Stacyville with Father Raymond Burkle, officiating. Burial will be in Visitation Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage.
Donna was born April 20, 1956, at Mitchell County Hospital in Osage, the daughter of Harvey and Ruby (Blegeberg) Bublitz. She graduated from St. Ansgar High School in 1974. Donna attended Austin Community College and earned an Associate Degree in Nursing. She began her nursing career in 1979 at Mitchell County Memorial Hospital.
Donna then worked for Mitchell County Home Health Care/Public Health for 35 years until retirement in 2016. Donna married Robert (Bob) Marreel on April 20, 1979 in Osage. They have been happily married for almost 39 years. During her nursing career, she always went above and beyond serving her patients. She shared her gift of cooking and baking by always sharing goodies with her family and patients.
Donna took pride in baking for Soldiers Angels, supporting our military serving abroad. Her hobbies were gardening, canning, attending car shows, decorating for all holidays and cherishing her granddaughter, Amelia. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Donna will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor, taking care of others, and her very strong faith.
Donna is survived by her husband, Bob; son, Justin Marreel; daughter, Alissa (Jered) Morrison and their daughter, Amelia; sister, Marilyn (Allan) Schmidt; nephews, Scott Schmidt and Jon (Sue) Henaman; nieces, Jennifer (Jeff) Leerar and Michele (Kurt) Hemann; and many great- and great-great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Ruby Bublitz; in-laws, Rose and George Marreel; and infant brother.
