Marlin was born on April 18, 1930 to Floyd and Caroline (Feldt) Kittleson near St. Ansgar, Iowa. He was baptized May 11, 1930 and confirmed May 20, 1945 at First Lutheran Church by Rev. Olaf Langehough.
Marly attended St. Ansgar Community School, and graduated from high school in 1949. Playing football and baseball were very special for him.
On June 19, 1954, Marly married Eileen Jahr at Mona Lutheran Church. They made their home in St. Ansgar. This union was blessed with one son, Steven.
After a year of farming, Marly went into the G&M Implement business with his brother Galen. In 1967, Marly started selling buses for Hoiby Body Co. of Minneapolis, and later for School Bus Sales of Waterloo.
His territory included southern Minnesota and northern Iowa, which gave him the opportunity to meet many people. He and Eileen enjoyed trips to conventions and sales schools in many states. In retirement they were Texas Snow Birds and trips abroad.
As a member of First Lutheran Church, Marly served as a trustee and on other church committees. Helping with Boy Scouts was also very important to him.
The AA Program made a big difference in Marly's life. The disease that brought him to this program can be devastating. Marly worked the AA Program faithfully for 50+ years, helping himself and many others.
He tried to live by The Message “Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don't get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes.”
Along with that, he loved the song “One Day at a Time.”
Marly's greatest enjoyment was the time he spent with family and friends. His grandchildren especially brought him so much joy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers: Galen, Le Roy, and James; one sister Charlotte; brother-in-law Dale Johnson; sister-in-law Shirley Kittleson.
Marly is survived by his wife of 61 years, Eileen, one son Steven (Paula), two grandchildren, Hailyn and Logan of Burnsville, MN, two brothers, Norman of St. Ansgar and Claire (Betty Ann) of Chino Valley, AZ; three sisters: Marjorie Johnson of Osage, Carol (Wayne) Jones of Rudd, Virgene (Robert) Erdmann of Wickenburg, AZ; two sister-in-laws, Lillian Jahr and Marlys (Loyal) Moore; one aunt Freda Feldt of Mitchell, IA, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
