OBITUARY
Kari Culbjorson was born in Gol, Hallingdal, Norway, February 11, 1833, and there for passed her 70th milestone last February. In 1866, she with her husband, emigrated to America, settling in Mitchell County, south of St. Ansgar. Here they resided for a couple of years, when they moved to the Colbertson homestead near Carpenter, where she resided almost continuously until the time of her death. By diligent labor she assisted her husband to turn the bleak prairie into a comfortable home. About 1883 her husband died to bear alone the burden of rearing the family, the younger ones of these being so small they can scarcely remember their father. About a year ago she had a stroke of apoplexy which caused her to partially lose her mind. Since that time she has been a helpless invalid, and was lovingly cared for by her youngest son, Charles and wife.
Mrs. Colbertson was the mother of nine children all of whom are all living, and all but the oldest son, Colbern, who lives at Corder, S.D. and Mrs. Julia Park, of Spokane Wash. were present at the funeral.
The others are Frank and Mrs. Peter Ruud of Carpenter, Mrs. R.A. Lee of Minneapolis, Mrs. Frank Hangge Austin, Olaus of Northwood, Marle of Minneapolis, and Charles who lives on the old homestead near Carpenter. She died October 27 nd was buried the 29th in the St. Ansgar N.L. Cemetery.
