Obituary
U.S. VETERAN
St. Ansgar, Iowa - Kerman C. Wenger, age 99, went to be with hie heavenly Father and Lord, November 11, 2017 while residing at the Stacyville Community Nursing Home.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at 1:30 PM, at the St. Ansgar Baptist Church with Rev. Aaron Moore and Rev. Gary Gonnerman officiating. Burial will be in the St. Ansgar Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, St. Ansgar and one hour prior to service at the church.
Kerman was born in Dallas County, Iowa, the son of Lloyd and Leah (Hawbaker) Wenger on December 24, 1917. He graduated from Dallas Center High School. Kerman married Leona Bever on February 7, 1941 in Dallas County, Iowa. He served in the U. S. Army from 1942 to 1945 in Burma and India.
After serving in the military Kerman farmed near Granger, Iowa until 1963 when he moved to Otranto, Iowa, where he farmed until 1978. He retired to St. Ansgar, Iowa in 1978. After his retirement he enjoyed playing pool and fishing. He was a member of the St. Ansgar Baptist Church.
He is survived by a son Clifford (Mary) Wenger, a daughter Dixie (Edgar) Fox, Jr., sister Dolores Bentall and sister-in-law Barbara Wenger; grandchildren, Angela (Dan) Schubert, Andrew (Melissa) Wenger, Lonnie (Shelly) Fox, Vicki (Jonathon) Noordhoek, Corey Fox; great-grandchildren, Jason and Tessa Shubert, Anthony (Sammy) Wenger, Jeanette Noordhoek, Victor Noordhoek, Carolyn (Joe) Duncomb, Hunter Noordhoek; great-great-grandchildren, Madison Wenger and Ruby Duncomb; numerous nieces and nephews.
Kerman was preceded in death by his wife of 74 years, Leona; sister Florence Fitz and brother Lloyd D. Wenger.
