Steven James Kennedy

July 12, 1967 - December 22, 2017

Steven James Kennedy of Chicago, Illinois, passed away on Friday, December 22, 2017.

Steve was born in Waterloo, Iowa to James and Mary Lou (Lambaere) Kennedy on July 12, 1967. He was always an inquisitive, questioning young man who worked to make himself, others and the world better. He graduated from Osage High School in 1985 and from Loras College in Dubuque in 1989.

His journey led him to Chicago where he has worked for Morgan Stanley. Steve loved the many opportunities and challenges that Chicago offered becoming active in Democratic Party politics there. Family, friends and adventures were treasured by him. The door of his condo was always open to all, and be prepared to eat a great meal and play some cards.

Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Mary Lou, brothers John and David, his sister-in-law, Kelly and his nieces, Olivia and Zoe, and nephew, Will 'Mervin.' He is also survived by his Aunt Kathy (Russ) McNitt, Uncle George (Terri) Lambaere and Aunt Joanne (Tom) Wilder and by a Great Aunt, Erma Duponcheele, plus several cousins. Steve's spoiled lapcats, Blanket and Baby, will miss their special treats. Steve's many friends in Chicago were a second family to him.

Steve was preceded in death by his father, James Kennedy, his grandparents, Nickolas and Margaret Kennedy and George and Julia Lambaere and his aunts, Alice Chambers, Kay Rhodes, Patricia Donovan and Peggy Rasdal.

At Steve's request a family celebration of his life will be held on a future date.
