Obituary for Gayle Jean Borwig

Gayle Jean Carter Borwig, 70 of Knoxville, Iowa, died Monday, Sept. 18 at Iowa Methodist Hospital, Des Moines.

She was born August 8, 1947 in Osage, Iowa, daughter of Gaylord and Dona Jean Hicks Carter. She married Tony Borwig on June 27, 1966, in Waterloo.

Gayle graduated from Waterloo West High School and retired as a practice administrator from Dermatology Associates in 2009.

Gayle is survived by her husband of Knoxville; two sons, Tony Borwig and Chris (Deb) Borwig both of Knoxville; six grandchildren, Jessica (Justin) Metz of Knoxville, Kelsey Borwig of Des Moines, Beau Borwig, Baylee Borwig, Staysha Borwig and Merissa Borwig all of Knoxville; five great-grandchildren, John, Jordan, Jackson, Joseph and Zayden; her father, Gaylord Carter of Waterloo; four brothers; Gary (Jackie) Carter of Winterhaven, Fla., David (Maria) Carter of Vitoria, Brazil, Mark (Mary) Carter of Jefferson, Texas, Tim (Marsha) Carter of Independence, Iowa; one sister, Ellen (Bill) Neebel of Decorah.

She was preceded in death by her mother.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 23 at Orchard Hill Church, 3900 Orchard Hill Dr, Cedar Falls, followed by cremation. Public visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 22 at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, continuing for one hour before services at the church in Cedar Falls.
