James R. Brock, Jr., age 84, of Osage, Iowa, died Thursday August 24, 2017, at Mercy Medical Center - North Iowa in Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, August 28, 2017, at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage with Pastor Gary Gilbert officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday at Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home. Burial will be at Newburg Cemetery in Carpenter, with Military Honors by the Osage V.F.W. Post 7920.

James was born December 17, 1932, in Nashville, Georgia, the son of James and Lottie (Stone) Brock. He graduated from the Nashville High School in Nashville, Georgia, on May 24, 1949. After graduation, he joined the United States Army.

On February 11, 1961, James was united in marriage to Shirley A. Kirchgatter of Carpenter, at the Deer Creek Lutheran Church. James served in both the Vietnam War and Korean War. On May 2, 1973, he retired from the US Army. He was employed by Winnebago Industries in Forest City. He was a life member of the Osage V.F.W. Post 7920.

James is survived by his wife Shirley Brock of Osage; daughter, Lisa Brock of Fayette; son, Jeffrey of Osage; son, Gregory (Nicole) Brock and their children Kaitlyn, Sara and Jacob all of Mechanicsville, Maryland; son, Michael (Kelly) Brock and their children Ashlynn, Brooklyn and Ethan all of Osage; brother, Bobby Brock and his wife and son of Fort Benning, Georgia; an uncle, Austin (Joan) Brock of Plantation, Florida.

He is preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Jane Schroeder; a niece, Sharon Schroeder and a nephew, Billy Schroeder.
