Died August 20, 2017

Robert “Bob” Donner, age 93, of Osage, died Sunday, August 20, 2017, at his home in Osage.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 23, 2017, at The Columbus Club in Osage with Father Raymond Burkle officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage with a KC rosary at 7:00 p.m.

Bob was born July 6, 1924, in Osage, Iowa, the son of Jesse and Margaret (Klaes) Donner. He graduated from Osage High School in 1941.

He married Marie Ginder on June 25, 1946, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Meyer, Iowa. Bob worked as a core maker at White Farm for 35 years and was in construction for 20 years. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage. He was also a member of the Holy Name Society, the Knights of Columbus and the Osage Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed playing cards and making model airplanes. Bob was an avid cribbage player, always up for a game; he competed in many cribbage tournaments. He was always ready with a smile and hug.

Bob is survived by his wife, Marie Donner of Osage; his children, Diana Shonrock of Ames, Sue Jones of Zionsville, Indiana, Debra (Glen) Franck of Story City, Tom (Kay) Donner of Nevada, Roberta (Don) Duenow of Newnan, Georgia, Vicki (Frank) Haaland of Waverly, Dan (Lynette) Donner of Urbandale, Steve Donner of Kansas City, Missouri; 20 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings Katherine Donner and Frederick Donner; granddaughter, Amanda Donner; and son-in-law Bill Shonrock.
