MASON CITY, IOWA - Linda (Mathews) Starbuck, 70, passed away Tuesday, May 16, 2017, in Mitchell, Iowa.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 23, 2017, at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E. in Mason City. The Rev. Bruce Ouverson will be officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood St. Joseph Cemetery.
Visitation will be held 5-7 p.m. Monday, May 22, 2017, at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E. in Mason City.
Linda was born July 17, 1946, daughter of John and Lila (Smith) Mathews, Mason City, and attended Mason City Schools. She married Earl Strait March 21, 1963, and to this union she was blessed with two sons, Randy and Brian. Linda later married David Starbuck, July 5, 1997, and was blessed with additional family including one son, Carl, and three daughters, Tammy, Stacy, and Dawn.
Linda’s career consisted of sales and management in the Painting Industry in the Mason City area. Later in her career she worked for Fox River Mills in Osage and Bower Drug in St. Ansgar.
In her early years, Linda loved sewing, crocheting afghans, and was an avid league bowler at the Family Bowl. David and Linda enjoyed traveling, fishing, and had many fun times at their river cabin with family and friends. She also delighted in their routine of going to Sunday morning breakfast in Carpenter. Linda adored spending time with her grandchildren.
At the end of the day she looked forward to having her friends over and having a relaxing Bloody Mary or glass of wine, often playing a very competitive game of cards.

She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Lila (Smith) Mathews, and several aunts and uncles.
