Peggy Lou Jacobson, age 79, of Osage, passed away Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at Mercy Medical Center - North Iowa in Mason City.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 27, 2017, at Little Cedar United Methodist Church in Little Cedar with Rev. Dr. Rhoda Preston officiating. Inurnment will be in Liberty Cemetery at Little Cedar. Following the services, the family and friends will meet in the church hall for refreshments.
Peggy was born October 30, 1937 in Osage, the daughter of Kenneth and Vernice (Williams) Knapp. She grew up in Little Cedar and graduated from Little Cedar High School in 1955, where she was the Homecoming Queen. In 1958, she graduated from the Mayo Clinic of Nursing in Rochester, Minnesota.
Peggy was united in marriage to Donald Jacobson in 1961, at the Little Cedar United Methodist Church. She worked for over 30 years at the Good Samaritan Society in St. Ansgar before retiring. She stayed in touch with her nursing classmates and atteneded their reunions. She was a member of the Christian Women’s Club. Peggy enjoyed playing cards with friends and Rummicube with her family. She loved traveling to Little Rock to visit her daughter and grandchildren.
Peggy was very close to her cousin, Pat Johnson, who was like a sister to her. Peggy never forgot a birthday, anniversary or holiday without a card or phone call to her family and friends. She was known as the family historian and loved people and it was extremely important for her to pass down the stories from the previous generations.
Peggy is survived by a daughter, Dawn McCartney of Little Rock, Arkansas; two grandchildren, Coty Echols and Casey Echols both of Little Rock, Arkansas; a great granddaughter, Charleigh Rae; brother, Richard Knapp of Cedar Rapids; two nieces, Amanda (Jeff) Harapat of Des Moines and their daughters, Bethany and Jordan and Johanna Knapp of Kansas City, Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
