FUNERAL NOTICE:

Peter R. Koenigs, 67, of Meyer, Iowa, died at his home on Wednesday, February 22, 2017.

Service: A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday, February 27 at the Sacred Heart Oratory, Meyer, Iowa, with Father Swaminatha Pothireddy officiating.

Interment: Interment will be at the Sacred Heart Cemetery at Meyer.

Visitation: Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Sacred Heart Oratory on and for one hour before the service on Monday morning.

Funeral Home: The Adams Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials: Memorials are preferred to the Sacred Heart Cemetery at Meyer or to the donor’s choice.

Peter R. Koenigs, 67, of Meyer, Iowa, died at his home on Wednesday, February 22, 2017.

Peter Roman Koenigs was born in Osage, Iowa on March 7, 1949, to Joseph and Julia (May) Koenigs. He was baptized at the Sacred Heart Church in Meyer, where he was a lifelong member. Pete graduated from Marion High School in Stacyville, Iowa and attended the Agriculture School at Iowa State University in Ames. He served in the US Army for two years. After his tour of duty, Pete returned to Meyer to take over the family farm, which is now a century farm. He loved farming. Pete also enjoyed tractor pulls and playing cards.

He was thankful for his many friends and the time he was able to spend with them and was a favorite uncle of his nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Julia Koenigs; sisters Trudy Holmgren and Norma Tripp; brother Herman Koenigs and brother-in-law, Carl Holmgren.

Pete is survived by his sisters and brother-in-law, Margaret and Bruce Eggenberger, Rochester, Minnesota, and Dorothy Koenigs, Rochester, Minnesota; brother-in-law, Roger Tripp, Coon Rapids, Minnesota; sister-in-law, Sheryl Holmgren, Balsam Lake, Wisconsin; nine nieces and nephews, 11 great-nieces and nephews and many friends.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Monday, February 27th at the Sacred Heart Oratory, Meyer, Iowa with Father Swaminatha Pothireddy officiating. Interment will be at the Sacred Heart Cemetery at Meyer. Adams American Legion Post #146 is in charge of military rites. Visitation will be at the Sacred Heart Oratory on Sunday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm and for one hour before the service on Monday morning. Memorials are preferred to the Sacred Heart Cemetery at Meyer or to the donor’s choice. The Adams Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
