Obituary for Leona Lubbert
Leona Mae Lubbert, age 83, of Riceville passed away on Wednesday September 14, 2016 at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City Iowa.
Leona was born in Jordan, Minnesota on August 6, 1933 to Edward and Gladys (Byers) Stoldt. She attended local schools and graduated from Big Fork High School, in Big Fork, Minnesota. On May 12, 1984 Leona was united in marriage to Stanley Lubbert in Osage, Iowa.
She was a home maker and active in St. Peter's Lutheran Ladies Auxiliary, was an animal lover of all kinds particularly cardinals, she enjoyed gardening with all her flowers, loved to take off and sight see, she was an avid John Wayne fan and loved horses. She worked for Pearce Telephone until 1999. She was a member of the Riceville American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband Stanley of Riceville, Iowa, daughter Sue Koch and her husband Tom, sons Kent Mericle and wife Susie, Doug Mericle and his wife Deb; nine grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; nephews: Ken Cherry and his wife Roberta and Steve Payson and his wife Kathleen; and his one great-niece LeeAnn.
