Joyce Irene Bishop, age 80, of Osage, died Saturday, August 13, 2016, at her home in Osage.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 19, 2016, at the Osage Alliance Church in Osage with Pastor Jim Stern officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery rural Rudd. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral home in Osage, Iowa.
Joyce was born on a farm near Floyd to Phillip and Margaret (Fredericks) Nauman on December 22, 1935. Joyce graduated from Floyd Consolidated School in 1953. Joyce married Carroll Sereno Bishop on June 27, 1954, at Rudd Wesleyan Church.
Joyce and Carroll farmed for over 50 years. She worked at Osage Memorial Hospital for six years and was a bookkeeper for the farm business.
Joyce taught Sunday school for 28 years at Rudd Wesleyan Church and the Osage Alliance Church, where she also worked in the kitchen and was on the card and flower committee for many years.
Joyce loved sewing, cooking, and flowers. She had a great love for her husband, her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and grand puppy.
Joyce collected nativity scenes and Teddy Bears.
Joyce is survived by her husband, Carroll Bishop of Osage; son, Merlin (Judy) Bishop of Rudd, son, Daniel (Teri) Bishop of St. Ansgar, daughter, Sheryl “Sherrie” (Allan) Olson of Osage, daughter, Starla (Doug) Cassmann of Osage, 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, sisters-in law, Dorothy Nauman, Osage, Marlise Adams, Floyd, and Esther Owczarek of Cedar Falls, and many nieces and nephews.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; and her four brothers, Donald, Laverne, Victor, and Robert.
