MASON CITY, IOWA — Mary A. Hollatz, 78, of Mason City, died Thursday, Aug. 4, 2016, at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City.

A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapels, 126 Third St. N.E., Mason City, with the Rev. David Byrd officiating. Inurnment will be held at Oakwood Cemetery, Plymouth, Iowa. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions can be directed to Don Hollatz.

Mary Hollatz was born July 30, 1938, the daughter of Albert and Margaret (DeFriend) Heimer, St. Ansgar, Iowa. She attended St. Ansgar High School. Mary married Don Hollatz in 1958 in Lyle, Minnesota, and to this union two girls were born. She retired from Mercy Hospital after 22 years of service.

Mary was a member of the Plymouth Methodist Church for many years.

She enjoyed having coffee with her friends out on the patio in the summer, feeding the birds in Plymouth, cooking and baking with family.

Mary is survived by her husband, Don Hollatz, of Mason City; two daughters, Gin Shackleton, of Clear Lake, Donna Miller, of Clear Lake; five grandchildren, Ryan (Dawn) Shackleton, Jason (Jennifer) Shackleton, Alan Shackleton, Doug (Jennifer) Miller, Devan (Eric) Hirsch; 13 great- grandchildren, one brother, Albert “Sonny” Heimer, many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents, sister, Marjorie Jean, and son-in-law, David Miller.
